Why, oh, why?

I almost bought a box of Wheaties yesterday. They are on the diet I am doing. I eat shredded wheat with fruit and usually a boiled egg every morning for breakfast, along with some decaf green tea. I’m getting a little tired of the shredded wheat, and I like Wheaties. Breakfast of Champions, right?

Only if those champions thrive on refined sugar. Sugar is the second ingredient listed, right after whole wheat. So ixnay on the eatieswhey.

OK, I thought, then how about some Kellogg’s Complete Bran Flakes? Those are kind of like Wheaties, right? Um, yeah, only worse. First two ingredients: whole wheat and wheat bran. Next ingredient: sugar (this is sounding familiar). Next ingredient: HFCS! Right there, in front of God and everybody. I looked, and it’s in pretty much all the Kellogg’s cereals, even the “healthy” ones (because, you know, the cereals eat right and exercise, so they’re healthy). At least the Big G doesn’t put HFCS in their cereals, but they still pour in the sugar.

Why, Wheaties, why?

Sigh. Back to the shredded wheat. At least the blueberries I put on them have taste. The cereal sure doesn’t.
